LOCATION, How to find Sirince and the Terrace Houses?
From the Airport
Follow the signs for Izmir to get out of the airport but as soon as you pass the police control you will see a brown sign to Ephesus or Efes and AYDIN. Take this fork to the right and then continue along this road for about 5 kms until you see a large green sign for AYDIN. Thıs leads you to a toll road and you must go through one of the channels not marked OGS and collect a ticket.
From Izmir follow the green signs for the motorway to AYDIN .
After joining the road you will travel for about half an hour and will take the turn off for EPHESUS and SELCUK. Here you will pay a tiny toll of under 2 YTL SO TRY AND HAVE SOME CHANGE READY.
After 10 kms you will see SELCUK CASTLE on an outcrop of rock infront of you and you will pass a few petrol stations. As soon as you enter the town of Selcuk you will see a turning to your left and a brown sign for Sirince. Turn left here and you will pass under a railway bridge. Follow the signs to Sirince and you will soon start the pleasant 7 kms climb to the village. As you drive over the brow of the hill you will start your descent into the village after you turn slightly to the right past an old house with light blue windows you will see 2 shops down on your right hand side a glass bead workshop. Inside here is Aydin Bey who can speak English and can tell you how to get to Terrace Houses if you get lost! Otherwise just continue on past the minibuses on your left and turn left which will lead you to a central square and a car park across the square.
YOU ARE A FIVE MINUTE WALK FROM TERRACE HOUSES
Park your car here and walk back towards Aydins shop but at the minibus stop turn left into the open air market and go striaght up until you reach the little square. On your left is a handbag shop and infront of you there is a small grocers shop. To the left of the grocers shop is a small cobble street continuing up the hill. Go up here and you will see a fork to your left DO NOT TAKE THIS but continue straight on taking the right fork and you will see a large sign for Terrace Houses on a wall in front of you. You are now only one minute from Terrace Houses!! Keep going straight on with the small gully on your right with tractors parked around the area and infront of you is Olive House. Go through the double doors and up the stairs and you should find us waiting for you.
You can actually drive up to the Houses and park by the fountain but for your first time I suggest that you walk to decide whether you feel comfortable driving the car up the narrow cobble streets.
